"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." (Ecclesiastes 3:1 NIV)
Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ:
Christ is with us.
Thanks to all who have purchased their tickets to support St. Jacob's. We were all looking forward to celebrating our 33rd anniversary together this Saturday, however, given the horrific events unfolding in Gaza/Palestine, the party is now canceled.
The cancellation is a loss for our church, for the Social Committee who toiled in planning and preparation and for you, our beloved supporters. However, our losses pale in comparison to those being suffered in Gaza, and so, we accept them willingly in solidarity with our affected brothers and sisters. We are greatly pained by the suffering of innocents and this is one way to make our proper Christian witness.
All ticket reservations will be refunded shortly. Please be patient with us as this has to be done manually, one reservation at a time.
If you prefer that your purchase be reclassified as a tax-deductible donation to the benefit of humanitarian aid in Gaza, please use the reply button below to let us know.
Any proceeds from non-refunded ticket sales will be forwarded to a legitimate non-profit organization dedicated to the relief of victims of the war. Funds will not be kept by St. Jacob's.
A special word of thanks to the Social Committee for their generosity and hard work planning this event. I wish to thank them, especially, for having the courage to make this painful, sacrificial decision. Yet, if the crucified Jesus tells us anything he tells us that in self-sacrifice there is redemption.
Please join us on Monday, 23 October at 7:00 pm as we celebrate our anniversary with the Liturgy of St. James. Light fare will follow in the hall.
We will also celebrate a Paraclesis for Peace in the near future. Details will follow shortly.
As always, many thanks and blessings for your support.
In Christ,
Fr. Shaun
